The golden light lasts another three or four weeks. I photograph outdoors until 9 November. After that the trees are bare and we wait another year. Book early and you have the pick of the dates.
Earth tones work best with the leaves: beige, rust, cream, dark green, mustard. No bright colours, no big logos, no strong patterns. Dress in layers, it gets cold outdoors faster than you think, especially for the children. After booking you get my outfit guide with examples.
In light drizzle we shoot anyway. The light is often at its most beautiful then, the colours glow and we have the forest to ourselves. If it rains all day we move your session free of charge. I check the weather the day before and get in touch.

Sturdy shoes that are allowed to get dirty. We walk on forest paths, through leaves and sometimes across a wet meadow. Wellington boots for the children are often the best idea, and they look wonderful in the photos.
From the moment they enjoy being outdoors. Babies in a sling, toddlers in your arms, school children running ahead, everything works. Nobody has to sit still, quite the opposite: movement makes the best pictures.
Very much so. Outdoors it is even easier than in the studio. Just bring treats and someone who can hold the lead when we take a picture without the dog.
